High dudgeon in San Francisco!!

California State Senator Leland Yee is outraged!

He believes that Rush Limbaugh has mocked the Chinese language and culture, belittled the contributions of the Chinese community, is lining his pockets with bigotry, and owes Chinese people an apology.

What'd he do now? Rush was complaining that Chinese President Hu's remarks were not translated, and Rush gave his rendition of what Hu's remarks sounded like to him. The audio, courtesy of Media Matters (natch), is available at SFGate.com. Give a listen. Rush's scat monologue sounded pretty much like what spoken Chinese sounds like to someone who does not speak Chinese: an unintelligible string of phonemes. Certainly nothing for a serious adult to get worked up about.

But some people are not happy unless they are miserable about something, and Leland Yee has found a way to inspire affection among his base by claiming that he and an entire ethnic group have been wronged by a conservative. Yeah, bask in the adulation, Senator Yee. It's much easier than doing your job in Sacramento and dealing with California's structural, multi-billion dollar deficit, now isn't it?

  1. I heard Rush live when he did the impersonation and it was due to his mocking the lack of translation on part of the administration, he was not mocking the Chinese.

    Your labels say it all.
